8th International Workshop on High-Resolution Depth Profiling (HRDP8)Western Science

Program Overview

Details about the technical and social aspects of HRDP8 were updated here.

The HRDP8 Program/Abstract Book may be downloaded as a .pdf file (3 Mb).

The titles of most presentations are linked to the presentations as .pdf files (0.7 - 6.4 Mb); the presentations may be found here.

HRDP8 began with registration (15:00 - 20:00) and a reception (18:30 - 21:00) in London Hall on Sunday afternoon and evening, August 7, 2016.

Oral sessions began on Monday morning at 09:00 and ended early Thursday afternoon, 12:15, followed by lunch in The Wave; all oral sessions were held in the Physics and Astronomy Building, Room 148.

The poster session was held on Tuesday afternoon in the Physics and Astronomy Building Atrium; student poster presenters participated in a competition with cash prizes provided by a generous donation from Professor Emeritus Ian Mitchell of the Department of Physics and Astronomy.

Photos from the Poster Session and the Excursion may be found here.

We are delighted to announced the winners of the Student Poster Competition.

1

Joshua Rideout, McMaster University

Positron Annihilation Spectroscopy with in situ ion implantation to investigate defects in semiconductors over a wide temperature range

2

Gabriel Marmitt, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul

PowerMEIS: RBS/MEIS simulations using cloud computing

2

César Martínez-Flores, Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico

Universal scaling of the electronic stopping cross section for swift heavy projectiles colliding with atoms and molecules

3

Carolyn Cadogan, Western University

Synthesis and characterisation of silicon nanoclusters in alumina

There was an excursion to Niagara Falls, Ontario, including a boat tour which went quite close to the various falls, on Wednesday afternoon, August 10 followed by a banquet (casual dress) at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum.

Photos from the Poster Session and the Excursion may be found here.

On Friday, August 12, 08:30 - 16:15, in the Physics and Astronomy Building, Room 148, there was a tutorial on techniques used in high-resolution depth profiling.  This tutorial was intended primarily for students but attendance was open at no additional charge to everyone registered for HRDP8; you must have indicated your intention to attend on the registration form.  The presentations, as .pdf files, are available here.
